Why Should I Be Generous?

With our Thy Kingdom Come: Rise and Build campaign underway we are looking forward to seeing what God can do when a church comes together financially to see resources purchased, those in need helped, and the church built. The following is a list of reasons why we should strive to be generous with our finances in all we do.

15 Reasons to Give

1. It shows that we believe that God is the source and that everything comes from Him (Psalm 50, Deut. 8).

2. Because giving is a test of faith. If we have faith that God will keep His promises, then we should find it easier to stick to ours (Deut.).

3. It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).

4. It goes to build God’s house and help those in need so that salvations and life transformations can continue (Luke 6).

5. Because God commands it (Deut. 14).

6. The early Church was designed to be generous and eagerly help those in need (Acts 2).

7. God will bless those who bless others. God gives seed to the sower. If you are faithful and generous with what you have, then God will trust you with much more. You reap what you sow (Gal. 6).

8. God gives resource so that we can pass it on. You are blessed to be a blessing (Deut. 16). Being generous opens the path to more blessings (Prov. 11).

9. Future generations’ eternities depend on your planning today. We are partnering with God to build tomorrow’s church.

10. Where your heart is, there your treasure will be also. Likewise, where your treasure is, there is your heart as well.

11. Because you always have funds for whatever you love or value, what better way to declare your love for God and the church than to commit to tithes and offerings.

12. We give because God first gave to us. We are simply following in the generous footsteps of our Savior.

13. Withholding from God leads to living under a curse and is also considered in the Bible to be the same as stealing from God (Prov. 28:27, Mal. 3).

14. Being generous with your possessions keeps those possessions from having power over you.

15. Because God loves a cheerful Giver (2 Cor. 9).
