10 Truths About Your Purpose Pt. 1 of 3

This is the outline from a sermon that i did at True North Church on 6.12.11. It is complete with the 10 truths along with other notable statements and scriptures. This is part 1 of 3… this is the first 4 truths.

10 Truths about Your Purpose

My Goal is to present this message in its most simple, basic, understandable, clear way.

– There is Power in Simplicity

In the past this has complicated & confused people so much so that this truth has lost much of its power.

The more complicated we make The Gospel the more spread thin and weaker it becomes.

1. Everyone has a purpose, You were born for a reason

– You are not created by accident /There are no people on earth that are here for no reason…

– People are either moving towards / fulfilling their purpose – or moving away and not fulfilling it.

Phillipians 2:13 For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpo

Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

A God given call or purpose is always for what is eternal…never for what is temporary

2. The Reason you were born is to build Gods kingdom in some way.

The Kingdom of God is Were the king is… where has Rule… has influence… is worshipped…is honored

– This is your purpose, this why you were created, this why you were born… why you are alive today.

– Whether you like it or not, accept it or not… know it or not… it is still True

– Even if you have not accepted Christ. Not a Christian, You still were born with a purpose for him

“Even the most evil person in history was still born with the purpose of doing something for God.”

Everything you do, Even outside of Church still purposed to build the church in some way…

– Building Gods house can happen anywhere, @ Anytime

– Don’t think that the Building The church happens one day a week and is confined to a building

Job / school / party / hang out – Every Action, Breath.  These are all related. God cares about them and wants to use you in everyone to help bring his plan about.

*Building the Kingdom = connecting People to Their heavenly father, spreading christs example, teaching, inspiring, encouraging, loving, building up, being an example, helping, having vision. Working towards a goal, being obedient to God in your everyday life, being pure, showing honor. Fleeing from Sin, Being steadfast, having Godly confidence, confessing your sin, forgiving others…All build Gods Kingdom

3. You will never be truly joyful / content / fulfilled until you begin to pursue & live out your purpose

– So many people are searching for something, why am I here, what is this for,

– They Find temporary pleasure, things to fill their time – leaves them feeling empty & unfulfilled.

4. Love builds Gods Kingdom… Sin tears it down

– If there had been no sin, We would have a perfect, untainted Godly Kingdom.

– Earth Began and was created Created In perfect unity and connection with God / the Creator & Created.

– But because of selfish sin – torn apart / connection was lost / Spiraled out of control / away from God

Our Purpose is to get back to what God intended, as much as able to. (New earth, renewed earth)

– Sin Prevents the kingdom of God from Growing…

2 Thessalonians 1:3 We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. 4 Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring. 5 All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.

letter to the People of Thessalonica: A church that was on fire.

– They had great Love, Increasing Faith, love for each other, Great perseverance in trials & suffering

– Because of this (actions) They are counted worthy of the kingdom of God… the reason for all of this.

Because they built Gods kingdom… they were worthy of it.

If we choose not to build Gods kingdom… but our own instead… we are not worthy of his kingdom.
